Next year will be 50 years since the birth of this iconic motorcycle.
Does anyone know if anyone is doing anything special to celebrate this milestone in the bikes history?

I said something about this to Jerry a few months ago and have also suggested something be done at the AMA JMDs in July...........but they are not reliable to follow-through. I would hope that any 'gathering' would include an event where our favorite bikes are actively participating

Approaching VRRA to make Honda the Feature Mark at next years Festival would be an option.  Likely get Honda Canada involved if the 2019 budget isn't set.

Approach local dealers to host a BBQ in celebration of the anniversary of the CB750 with them contacting their customers to attend the event with a Honda bike trivia contest and raffle for some prizes to increase attendance. That it is an opportunity for the dealer to do a small demo and introduction of the models in stock and in the current lineup.  Offer a fixed $1k or some number that could be an incentive for the dealer to move inventory that is from 2017 or earlier and that number to be revealed during that day, but it be at least $1k on any 2017 and earlier with the figure possible to be more on older inventory if the dealer is so motivated.  Pitch the idea to corporate Honda America to be involved with the dealer and do it with the small and medium and large dealers across the country but not every dealer...they could not afford that marketing investment. Have Honda America bring demo bikes they can offer long term riders with sucient proof of insurance a short controlled ride in a large parking lot or accompanied ride, so there is no funny business or dangerous behavior taken, but one that can give customers a taste of the bike. This could benefit Honda dealers as well as Honda America by increasing sales and potentially planting that seed of desire for models the have any poor sales with which have gotten good press reviews. One idea would be to reveal to attendees who sign up in advance a 2 week sneak peak before the event an incentive to bolster parts sales by having a 5% sale on all parts orders placed the day of the sale by attendees present for x # of hours at the event then they would be eligible for this discount, idea that it be a sales pitch and demo opportunity for models in stock and in current lineup or even possible of being obtained from other dealers. If it were organized by Honda America they could with a little help approach smaller dealers into joining in a region and hosting a combined event where this would draw customers from a larger region to events like this across America.  BUT and I do mean BUT they must pay homage to the CB750 as it is the reason for this celebration and owners of the CB750 of SOHC4 and CB750s of any model be encouraged with a free event T-shirt that is available to others to buy at the event. The shirt would feature small color illustrations or photos of the entire SOHC4 CB750 production with different or notable colors for not repeating the same color and have the '69 K0 sandcast be central to the illustration. Then Honda America allowing Honda to be shown on all illustrations of the models And the current model heal of all models in production for 2019 shown in the same size with the event details and dealers names involved featured on the upper back with the color photo lineup shown on the lower back. Honda emblazoned across the top of the back as main header. And pocket abbreviated event name XYZ area/region name Honda 1969-78 Honda CB750 and date of event on the front pocket area with photos or line illustrations of the model years on the front of each model year of the 9 year production being show on the shirt front. Suggestion that there not be too much ink used front and back as that just increases the warmth of the shirt even with modern printing technologies. In most warmer climates it makes the shirt too warm and you want these shirts worn A LOT throughout the year in public.  Shirts like this will draw attention by others whom will strike up conversations and they will see the current models feared on the back without Any conversation. Big market feather for Honda America to be involved.  This idea or similar might be a good marketing pitch our forum could pitch to Honda America first and then to regional dealers by members of our forum whom are SOHC4 owners to see if they could have encouragement by the dealer up to Honda America to help support this. It could be a drive we as SOHC4 owners would all benefit as interest in the SOHC lineup and therefore value of the bikes might increase even more AND Honda dealers and Honda America and Honda Japan would benefit from... The pitch to Honda America be extended to Honda Japan to also support and request Honda Japan be present when the forum pitches a refined version of this idea to Honda America and Honda Japan. After doing that pitch two weeks or three weeks later regional and area dealers receive a letter from the forum leadership briefly outlining the pitch we delivered to Honda America and Honda Japan. Asking for their support for this idea and the benefits of this idea. This could swell the decision in favor of something like this have real teeth and actually occur.

My $1.00 worth of idea to celebrate the CB750 SOHC4 significance next year.

Go for it David, get it organised mate although it does sound a little ambitious but this might be the way we should go.
The other guys idea seemed to work for me but tying in some of your ideas by linking up with local Honda dealers along the way.

If we do a ride then it should be dealer to dealer along the way...call local news and see if they want to nibble or take a few pics or pick up a story. Give each state group a script of some std things to say or read so they are prepared to mention the forum how many member forum web address. That we are MC enthusiasts from all walks of life and we are celebrating the iconic CB750 that started a huge production unlike any other and propelled Honda to market leadership with Suzuki and Kawasaki being the Japanese competition and really changed MCs and started a engineering war between the three to make a better bike and power and performance quickly progressed to higher standards that were not uyet seen....somethings like that...

Would have to Ask Glenn or one of the Admin Moderators who knows the code side of things or the advanced capabilities of the forum software.  It might not be easy but it could be copied and pasted into the thread doing "Quote" and then copying and cross pasting into a new thread...  A manual thing and I'm not sure it shows everything in headers... User data in the left side is definitely lost in a quote but it does show whom said what. But I've never tried it.
Which forum section do you want it?  High Performance and Racing Forum or the Open Forum and I will see if I can do what I suggested above. This thread has 15 posts. I will have to look at the other thread to see how many there...  17.

I switched bikes in my trailer...........Aprilia parked.........CB750 is in and ready to go while we travel around the country.......I'm celebrating 50 years of riding since I bought my first 750 in August of '69 ..........and I am also celebrating my 50 years with this model by going back to Bonneville to set more records

I did the T shirts at the 40th At VMD Mid Ohio 2009 with some help from Steve Swan, They had a Red Sandy on the Front and the VMD 2009 40th anniversary print on the back I still wear mine getting a bit ratty now....

Need some help by the knowledgeable crowd of cb750 owners...

What were the distinctive colors of the '69 -'78 cb750 models?
If you were to put a photo of each model year with say a F for the first year of the F SS and unique colors on each bike then what would they be?
I was thinking the gold would be appropriate for the Sandy... Each would be photshopped to render it in a colored tank and side covers with it converted with a filter to make it look like a drawing/painting/illustration but accurate based on the real deal. The F bike would need a shot of the 4-1 exhaust side while the others could alternate  3/4 views of the bike from opposite sides. '69 large and 8 other models shown smaller to fit around it with printing above sandy at the top.

 Caption suggestions welcome.

Very good examples of stock bikes from each year would be much appreciated! If you got'em share them. I can provide email address to anyone who wants to send me a high red photo.

I want to prototype it to present to Honda when I talk with them. 

I had an unplanned move to a new house I am renting that I have been tied up with for the past 2-3 weeks so I am behind schedule and I am moving starting Wednesday this week.

Anyone need a Small shirt?
Making the design available on M -3XL gives more real estate for the printing of the design in one size fits all so the costs are fixed.
Anyone need 4XL. I would like to have Tall sizes also available. T-shirt will likely be either on cream or light gray.

We might not get to put Honda on the shirts, depends on if Honda will play nice or not as the shirts for Trevor Ware fund raising were nixed after the first batch by Honda. Until they removed the Honda from the tank. I scored a pair of the Honda versions, of which one is yet to be worn...it is held in reserve for when the other gets ratty or I do a bone headed stunt and stain the one I wear...  They are/were nice shirts of Trevor's CB550 with his dog on the seat and camping stuff or backpack beside bike...don't remember. It was an artist colored pencil illustration of the scene and quite good.
