I just received two double cut front fenders from Yamiya. Quite a disappointment at $2,000 each in Canadian dollar terms once duty and shipping is paid, roughly $1,500 USD but it is not about the money.
Both had two dents each, all ahead or below the brace mount holes. Also lots of picking hammer marks on the underneath side along with flash rusting. Both also have blueing from the heat of cutting . Use this sites zoom in feature on the photos to see the mess on the underneath side.
My feedback to Yamiya750.com was ignored.
This is the link.
Do you see dents, rust and pick marks and blueing shown or mentioned?

Some comparisons between Honda original double cut and Yamiya replica.

Fender mount thickness: Honda 2.75mm, Yamiya 2.59 mm
Fender thickness:Honda: .8mm, Yamiya .88mm
Fender weight: Honda 1.330 kilograms, Yamiya 1.338 kilograms.

So they are basically the same in that regard

$2,000 for a fender?!

Yeah bro, they got you hook, line and sinker. There is no version of a world where that is worth that price when its a replica.

These fenders are practically flawless on the top side. They should be of Honda quality for the price.
No PeWe they are not at all  like the low cost ones you referenced.I had researched those months ago. Those have been discussed at length in this and other forums. I think they are from Viet Nam?

Rip off...get your money back and don't accept a replacement for that price! That really is a disappointment from Yamiya. They usually hold high regard on this forum. Let us know how you come out...

A friend sent me a link awhile ago where Yamiya was having a big scratch and dent sale. Had pipes and other blems available. He thought it looked like they were trying to scrape the bottom of the barrel and it turned him off for some reason. I have never even paid $2000.00 for a whole 750 yet  :o

So, are they flawless or dented? You're playing both sides here.

I still say $2,000 for a fender is just crazy.

That is just crazy, I have used the so called Vietnamese ones and they are just fine. They might not have the same finish on the underside but I have yet to have anyone look under the front fender for a finish inspection. If you are going for a concours restoration I would think you would want an OEM one anyway. For  2 grand you could probably have a decent Honda one dechromed, blemishes filled, and rechromed with a show quality  finish.

I have seen these fenders in person, they do not strike me as 1st quality ,but alot of other yamiya stuff does seem to be nice,so a bit unusual to see this on a high priced item.I would like to see some pics of the cheaper ones to see if maybe he is buying raw blanks and working them over a bit before chrome,ko stuff is becoming a pure ripoff.bill

It has nothing to do with the price. I should not have mentioned that because it shifted the focus of my post.
It is about Yamiya misrepresenting an item and making others aware.
In eBay talk. "Item not as described."
After three emails to Yamiya with no response I have taken my case to Pay Pal court.

For that price I would expect a perfect replica and would send it back. $2000 is high but we're talking about a well known established premium supplier for the discerning taste.

Any part for a sandcast is 10x the price of a non sandcast cb750.  For example.  a cb750 ignition swich is about $30 but a recessed ignition swich tor a sandcast is $300.  It's always almost the same conversion rate.  Coincidentally the parts for a sandcast part are about the same price as a related part for a harley davidson panhead.  A cb750 tank is about $200, for a sandcast is abot $2000 and also the same price for a tank for an old harley davidson panhead.

I don't think the shipping to Canada would be  much different than to USA.
The point here is...... pay a premium price expect a premium product..

Those fenders were advertised used rechromed with small dings. There is probably no easy way to find nicer originals. Recently one was sold on ebay for almost 700$ - rusty and dented. In my opinion they will look much much better then reproduction ones. Chromers will only care about visible parts and most people will never notice those dings when they will be fitted to the bike.

Finally the first response from Yamiya.
"Dear Sir,
Thank you for your message.
We usually check all this items before shipping and there was no dent for every product.
Probably it seems to have dented during transport. Therefore please file a damage report to the post office there.
Since it is about quality, we think that it is never bad quality because it is part of the back side.
In fact, customers overseas are satisfied.
We would appreciate your understanding.

Best Regards,
Motorcycle YAMIYA

They would already know.

Knowing and listening are not always the same thing.

Unfortunately it sounds like they haven’t listened to the nature of of the dents as a mfg. issue and are just passing the buck on to the post office.
Makes me think twice about buying high cost items from them.
I would still go down the paypal claim route.

Exactly what I thought a replica is worth.
