Can you Believe it? I can't!!
« on: September 26, 2018, 10:03:06 AM »
Well, I'm getting there.

2 years after really starting, and 12 years after beginning to collect parts and do little jobs here and there, I have finally ridden my 44 year-old CB750 K2!

I can't describe the feeling, except as disbelief, as I sat, after my first 45km ride, looking at my bike in the afternoon sun whilst sipping (or rather knocking back) a pint of Guinness.

It was one hell of a journey, with ups and downs, much frustration and many setbacks; but I learned sooo much, nad can now look back on it all with tremendous satisfaction.

I have to say that it would never have been possible without the expertise, advice, humour and patience of so many members on this forum. i would like to send you all a big, big thank you.

So, part one of the journey completed, I'm champing at the bit to start part two.

Thanks again everyone.

Congratulations!  Beautiful looking bike.  I bet when you were 1/2 way through you had thoughts of what was I thinking when I started this.  (I did) LOL.  It's a very satisfying feeling to start it up after all the work you put into it and be able to finally ride it.  The bike almost becomes part of you.  A job well done!

What is the story on the paint color? Is it the original color from 1972?

I have to say.  There is no greater satisfaction than bringing a bike back from the dead. Been there a number of times myself but it's still a great joy.  Good for you!!

You did the right thing. Brought the poor and forgotten bike back on track as it once looked. And it looked really good as it does now!
That color is typical K2 for me.
The blinkers and rear light looked like that on all K2's we got to Sweden from 1972-1975.  K1 style that look better than the US fat rear and blinkers from K2 and later

Congrats.  And you did it all yourself!

Just about (apart from all the help I received from guys here).

All except paint, chrome and a few minor engineering tasks I didn't have the tools for. There's not too many of us oldies riding oldies here in Zimbabwe.  :D
