Where is that thread that gives you info on your bike based off the vin? I am looking to get a new one made by http://www.khneisser.ch/. I know it's a 1978 CB550K but I am looking for the info on the riveted vin tag, such as when it was manufactured.

As far as I know there is no way to get an actual build date and I am not aware of a site that can provide the month/year data that is found on the plate, but someone else may know of one.

My advice would be to start a thread and provide the last 4 digits of your VIN and ask for someone with a VIN close to yours to provide the month/year data from their own bike.

You're probably right the manufacture date won't matter. I just need a photo. Is there a member on here who has a 78 CB550K and has their vin tag on? Anyone?

I am pretty sure I have a photo of my '77 K frame tag on my computer at home.

My 78 550K is VIN 2117xxx is dated 11/77. I understand it is only 5-10k off the end of the line.
