So, I registered on here quite a while ago, but for one reason and another I’ve not posted much.
We have a 1976 400/4, just over 1000miles from new, it was bought new from Bob Galliers Motorcycles by my late father in law who was serving in the SAS at the time.
He later crashed it with less that 1000miles on the clock and never rode it again, not finding the time to repair it.
A number of years ago he was cleaning out his garage and asked if we would like it, or he was going to the tip with it, we jumped at the chance and a long restoration began.
At some point my brother in law at changed the colour but not finished getting it back on the road hence the fact it’s black above. This was pretty much how I found it.
That was pretty much at the end of the process there was some issues with getting it running and it was laid up again for a few years.
Typically I won’t back to it and suddenly the issue was resolved (a burnt out wire in part of the loom that i couldn’t find the driest time)
So this was the old girl parked at my office this morning, largely a summer bike and certainly now a daily rider but a part of the family history.
I’ll likely visit more frequently and help others where I can with my experiences from this resto.
Also she’s not a show bike, I wanted to keep the some of the damage that tells the story of the bike and as much original parts as I could.
