Countershaft oil seal
« on: September 26, 2018, 02:56:34 AM »
Hey guys,
Rebuilding a 1978 CB750A and as I go through the engine replacing gaskets and seals I got to the countershaft and notice that there appears to be two oil seals for the shaft. I have the inner which unfortunately I'm thinking I have to split the case to install but I can't seem to find the outer? Am I seeing the parts breakdown correctly and is the outer NLA? Everything is going back together and I'd hate to have to pull the engine again to split that case if I don't have to. any wisdom or knowledge would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, have you looked at cmsnl.com?
I have the impression I see what you need there.

Thanks for the link but same thing as all the sites I know. Either out of stock with no time frame for more or NLA.

I have the part # and the manual but no suppliers have the seal available. I had to think outside the box and did a search for a seal with the correct dimensions which are 34x62x13. The closest I could find was from a company called HiTech seals. Their seal was 34x62x10. I felt as long as the OD and ID were correct I could make do with a 3 mm difference on the height. I ordered two in case I screw one up and we’ll see how it works. Coming from Canada so it won’ be in for a couple weeks. I’ll keep everyone posted.
