New 1979 CB650 - Electrical problem

Hey I just picked up one of these. The battery was dead so I couldn't test it there. I hooked it up to a charged battery at my house and still no power. I found the 30amp strip fuse by the starter relay and replaced it with the spare because it was burnt. I'm still not getting anything.. Any advice here?

Check the other fuses by the handle bar mount  (below the key switch). If still nothing, get out the multimeter and follow the yellow brick road.......so to speak.

You can down load a Manuel from this site too.

Welcome from NE MN,

Another common problem is the ground connection to the body being corroded/loose.  Keep at it.

Restoring it or cafe?

If you are going to Café it, would you consider swapping tank and side covers. I have but rattle can painted

The black negative wire from the battery in the first pic has a very dodgy looking connection to frame ground. ;) If the 650 is like a 750, the battery tray is isolated from the frame with rubber grommets; the battery needs to be grounded to the frame itself, with a much more positive connection.

I'm probably just going to restore it. I have a cb500t I'm turning into a cafe racer. I'll see when I ride it :)

Found the problem, main fuse screws were swapped  :P Time to get the bike running now :)
