« on: January 16, 2007, 07:04:21 PM »
No toy I wouldn't trade my 750 for one. :)
But saw one up close this past sunday and it is a nice looking bike.
Just made me think I might like clipons on my bike.

Tiumph...what is a Tiumph?  JJ....I have a new S3 and it rocks. The Thrux would be my next  new Triumph, if I had the cash. ;D

It is pretty, but if I were to buy a Triumph, it would have to be a Speed Triple. I've read too many good things about it.

That Thruxton is killer, but with Bonnie bars on it.  If you're over 40, that reach will really hurt.

I like the fact the manufactures are bring that old school look back but I think the triumph is a little bland. I like the look of the ducati sportclassic 1000 a lot more. It just has that im going to kick your a55 look.

Thruxtons are badass.

It seems as if it mandatory to own one of you are member of the Chicago Ton-Up  ;D
One of the members even races in the AHRMA Thruxton class --->

http://bricecooper.com/racing.asp

Never rode one, but they seem like a wicked fast modern day cafe with historic styling..

I would buy one (& might)...

The name brought back memories, my friend had an original Thruxton when we were in college, never got to ride it but it looked nice, I had a 175cc BSA Bantam at the time.

<--------- That Ducati is the most perfect modern motorcycle I can imagine.  Everything you need and nothing you don't.

I could afford one right now, but the subsequent divorce and child support would bankrupt me.

My brother has a Thruxton.  I'm getting one as my next bike.  Really fun to ride and with new pipes, intake and jetkit it really transforms the bike alot.  Awsome fun bike..  Highly recommend.  I'm still considering the S3 though too.

So that is the "old look in the new style" being dragged out again. I'm underwhelmed. It's worse than the Ducati they foisted on the buying public last year.

That Triumph looks like a frumpy, overweight old lady with a bad hairdo and it's got a big fat arse (literally) too. Take it away, please....

Toy has no taste, he's from Arkansas :) (I say that cause he trashed the Ducati, the Triumph does look a bit fat)

From Arkansas, huh? ??? And that's supposed to mean what ::) Let THIS Arkansas boy explain something, that some folks just might not know. ;D I get the impression that some think that Thruxton was originally a Triumph name and it just ain't so. Check out the link below. I'm not to good at posting pictures yet and if someone wants to bring this one out for me, I'd appreciate it. :) ;) ;D

I can agree with this statement.  But after new exhaust, pod filters and jet kit this bike really wakes up ALOT.  Stock it's good but isn't very inspiring.  After a 1000 bucks and a weekend of work it get out of its own way quick.  These bikes are really tame coming from the factory but really respond to aftermarket very good.

Nope, twasn't me that did that. ::) ;D I was born in Arkansas and live here now by choice. Now, I have been in a good number of the states, North, South, East and West and, while i liked most everywhere I've been, My place is in Arkansas. I've got friends all over the country and then some, because of SOHC4. Aren't you from Virginia? ??? Met some mighty fine folks when I went to Ft. Belvoir a lot of years ago. ;) You take care and I'll catch you later on, Bill  :) ;)

By the way, I'm not a Triumph or Ducati lover, but I'm not a hater either. ;D

Hey Bill your suppose to say those folks from Virginia sure are uppity :)]

Then I could come back with being raised in (31 years) NC which is a vale of humility between
to mountains of conceit (Virginia to the north and SC to the south :) :)

One thing North Carolinians have always been proud of is how humble we are :)

Hey Rocking-M, Guess I wasn't paying attention. I hate to be a downer but, when I went to Ft. Belvoir (for a 2 and 1/2 month Military Power Generation Course, through the Civil Service) I found most all of the folks, that I came into contact with, were quite hospitable, courteous and friendly. Sorry but, that has been my experience. I also went to Ft. Bragg, for a Civil Affairs Course (through the Army Reserves) for my 2 weeks summer training. There again, no problem and no complaints I know that I'm spoiling the fun and I apologize for that. Spent about 9 months in SC at Charleston AFB, as my first base of assignment in the USAF and again, no problem.

                                                         Later on, Bill :) ;)

Ah, come on Bill, you got to hone up on your ribbing skills,
I figure a little ribbing keeps us all honest :)
Sorta like being bucked of keeps a fellow from being to boastful.  ;)

SC is great, that's where I plan to move when I hit the jackpot. There is
a little Plantation down there on highway 41 on the way to Charleston
that I eyeballed about 22 years ago.....It would be a nice starting point for
a coast ride on the Honda, Triumph, or Ducati  :)
