A few questions about a '76 cb550
« on: June 18, 2005, 08:33:50 AM »
First, does anyone know a good US based website that carries all the parts I need to overhaul my engine. Second my motor is locked up, If I break one of the cam links can I get a new link to replace it or will I have to buy a new chain. And third, will a rear fender of of a '74 550 work on mine?

thnx, and yes I have, found alot of sites that deal with the cosmetics and carburetor. And i've found a couple overseas sites that have internal engine parts but have yet to find any local sites. Do you got a web site that sells the repair links for the cam chain.

Some stuff like piston rings and the like are pretty available as well as gasket kits etc.  I've had some
difficulty locating a lot of OEM or NOS parts for them tho'.

If you need any particular engine parts, let me know.  I've got a spare 76 cb550 engine in various states
of repair (top end is pretty good) that I could part out if you need anything off of it.

Not sure excatly what i'll need yet. Bike sat out in the elements for a few years with plugs out of 2 cylinders. Anyone had any problems with using heli-coil repair kits on plug holes?

If you have part numbers go to www.westernhillshonda.com Use the joining link from a CB450 or 500 twin. You may have to use the rear fender complete with light bracket and light but then all the 500 and 550 fours will fit
