The Go Ahead
« on: October 15, 2018, 09:55:40 am »
Ok guy's I've received the go ahead to take advantage of the assisted dying program, my Myleophibrosis is causing me to have a transfusion every 1-2 weeks and is not helping so much any more and I've gone on Oxygen 24 hours a day, so the edge is getting much closer and I'm sucking up resources like a champ, which bothers the hell out of me, by the way the cost of all of this to me has been nada, nothing, so any one that want's to argue socialized medicine with me can go #$%* themselves in 4/4 time, I repeat no cost but I do feel a bit guilty at 79 of using the resources. Any how I'm going to push it a little further maybe try for Boxing Day or Hogmanay, I've no regrets and I've made friends here which I'm happy about, so I'll try and get the girls to let you know after the dirty deed is done so that you and the world can rejoice that the old bugger is finally gone.

Man's gotta know his limitations. It may sound morbid, but I find it refreshing that someone of sound mind can choose their time rather than wait for some unforeseen time in the future. Best of luck to you Bill in your next adventure.

The adventure is not over yet and who know's maybe they'll find a cure, of course that's as likely as me finding a willing redhead of good body fame with great legs to share my declining years.

Good byes are always sad, but it is my pleasure and honor to say goodbye to you sir, while you are still living .
A person in such pain, may fear the reality of more pain, more so than the mystery of what lies ahead when life is over.
I respect your decision and bravery to end it before it becomes too much to bare. It is a very personal decision, one not taken lightly. I wish you the very best of times for the time you have left, and when it is over, that you will pass peacefully at the time of your choosing.
You have been enjoyed and respected here, and you will be missed.  Good bye  Bill.

You've taught us how to fight the good fight Bill.
We will always hold you in high regard and value your mateship.

Assisted dying is a personal decision and I fully respect your choice Bill.

If a cure became available and it started pissin' down long legged Red Heads, they'd all be on your doorstep in a flash.
Take good care and give that can a bloody decent kicking mate.

I know I haven't been around much lately but I do try and check in from time to time, but I really didn't expect something like this would make me post again. I am so sorry to hear this Bill, we may not have talked much on the forum but I have ALWAYS enjoyed reading your posts on a number of topics. I will never forget your unique perspective on so many things. May the rest of your time with us be pleasant.
