Source for Piston Rings sets?
« on: October 15, 2018, 08:15:43 AM »
Snapped a second ring cleaning it off?  These are new 35 year old rings from Venolia.  72mm bore, 1.5mm thick chrome top and cast second, 3 piece oil rings.  Venolia said try Total Seal.

Hastings are a good source too.  Your rings should be 1.5/1.5/2.8

Funny as I’ve bought those same rings in 70, 71, and 73mm and know all the order numbers, but not the 72s

Found them.

The pic below is of my 73mm rings.  Same part number but without the .040.

So what you want is 2C-6116.  In the supplied link, they are a mere $32 for the set👍

Thanks George!  I will contact them to see if they are available in a set of six....but for that price I will be happy to buy two sets of four.  They are for my CBX.  I guess I will talk to Total Seal too, buy I think they might be pricey.

They sell individual piston sets too, one piston worth.  I make a habit of buying the set of 4 plus 1 single set in case an issue happens.  Trimmed too much when fitting end gap, bent an oil ring etc.  the rings are high quality, yet cheap enough not to put a second thought into it.

So what you want is 2c-6116S for the single packs and 2c-6116 for the set of 4.
Might as well get two sets of 4 though if you want a spair set with a 6 cylinder CBX.

Glad you had luck finding them. I'm kind of screwed myself. No one seems to have the odd sized oil/ scrapper rings I need. I'm 1.0 top, 1.48 and,3.54 on the oil rings?? If anyone can help I'd appreciate it greatly. I'm trying to get my nitrous project bike ready for the Man Cup finals and won't have an assembled engine unless I can source those rings.

Thanks for checking under the bed. Unfortunately that set will not work for my pistons. Oddball oil scrapper rings for some reason. I was turned on to a company in California that may be able to help. I'm planning to contact them tomorrow.
