Blackstone griddle
« on: May 01, 2022, 10:42:17 AM »
I bought my 4th blackstone griddle today. This time it isn't a gift, except to Myself. My 3 kids all wanted one for Christmas and I keep seeing pics of them cooking these great meals on them. And eating there too.
I've been a radiant gas grille guy until now. It's easy, quick and I have a feel for it. This will be a learning experience but the smash burgers my kids make are great.

Smash burgers tonight. Just like Steak and Shake. For those that don't have Steak and Shake, really thin burgers with crispy edges.

Yum, around here it's a small local chain called Dick's. They open at 1030am and at every location there are customers waiting when they open. They also cut their own fries fresh every day. 8)

Nothin' like a bag of Dick's. And they stay open until 2:30, half an hour after the bar closes, which can be dangerous. I lived in Wallingford for a while, localized a great dive bar called Al's, a block or two away from Wallingford Dick's. Perfect combo.

I also always thought Queen Anne Dicks would be a good name for a band.

And... Dick's pays good wages and has a matching funds program for employees who want to go to college.

Now Dick's closes at 200am. They have built a few new branches. They still pay good wages and benefits including the college fund.

A bag of, er those burgers sounds pretty good. Too bad they have not made it to the midwest yet.

Local Seattle instution, there are only 5 or 6 of them I think (and they just added one south of Seattle in Kent, and announced one more further south). Gotta go to Seattle! Sir Mix-A-Lot raps about it on "Posse on Broadway" (although the photo on the record is Lake City Dick's).

I know some out-of-towners who ask, "What's the big deal?" but they generally come around.

There's also one on Hwy 99 and 220th SW in Edmonds. We used to race our bikes up the curvy hill from Golden Gardens Park to the Holman Rd Dick's in Seattle. The loser had to buy, I never bought. You don't have to be the fastest, just don't be the slowest. 8)

We went to an In and Out burger in Ca. They had a guy directing traffic in the parking lot. I asked if they were always that busy. The guy answered I don't know, we've only been open for an hour.
