I've never seen this myself. I could ride that 750 without a problem. ;D That 2nd model, the 400 four looks good, just not crazy about that exhaust myself. Thanks for posting this. It would be nice if they made it out of Japan.

ALL of those look sweet!  Not cruiser yet not rocket!  Honda MUST bring those over here! Looks like the late 70s early 80s dohc models. While I would like to see an sohc bike again, I doubt that will happen byt these are still nice!

If that's for real, I'd be pretty happy giving it space next to my '78 K model...when I wasn't riding it, of course.  ;)

That's funny you post this, i was just showing a friend the website of the 400SS and the New Benly they have, too.
Sweet models with classic styling and  modern engineering.

if you search the forum for 400SS, you will find our Singaporean friend has said they are around in limited quantities, at least in Singapore.

i think the first production run of the 400SS was 1500 units, according to the honda website.
I would buy one for the sticker price of $4000.  no problem.
When is honda sending 350,000 units to the US? lol ::)

The 750 is very retro. Almost a little too eighties for my tastes... But that wouldn't stop me ffrom taking iot for a test spin.

I think I would to get a hold of the 400SS, though. That could be a great little bike.   ;D

I agree, the 750s look too 80's for me but the 400SS in the red and white paint scheme is reminiscent of my 69 CL350 that's candy ruby red and white. I like it a lot.

hmm I am thinking that CB400 is a great looking base for something that could be really tweaked to your style. With the motocycle scene the way it is today I think that bike could really take off from a sales perspective. I am not feeling the 750 at all.. just was really never into that wavy seat and one piece looking tank to side cover look.

Wow.  That's about all I can say.

ProTeal, how did you come across those photos?  I'd definitely like to share my favorable opinions with Honda and "encourage" them to start shipping both models to the USA soon!

I definitely like both and I agree the 400 needs a cafe treatment.  That could be the perfect bike to get my wife riding...

I'd pick up the 750 in a heartbeat; in blue please.  I agree it definitely looks '80s, but it's compact, seems comfortable, and can do a lot (sporting, touring, maybe a track day...or maybe I'm just delusional) like the early cb's could do.

The thing that I love about these bikes is that it's a return to the "Standard".  I work with a bunch of guys that all ride cruisers, mostly metric with a couple Harley's thrown in, I'm constantly having to explain my desire to restore my CB, rather than buying something like theirs.  They don't seem to understand that the motorcycle world has been reduced down to (with damn few exceptions) only 2 styles... Cruisers and Squid bikes, and these aren't for everyone.  Frankly, I'd rather restore a 30 year old CB than ride one of these newer bikes.  The previously mentioned exceptions are, alas, too rich for my blood. ($)  I welcome a return to the standard bike, one that you can customize as you wish rather than owning a cookie cutter "custom" that costs you twice the price of the bike in factory "catalog" parts to make it stand out from the other 2 million cruisers out there.  If Honda is smart enough to bring this machine over here, I may have to rethink my attitude of never owning another new bike.  I hope others follow suit.

PS, This doesn't mean I'd get rid of my F2, at least not till they pry my cold dead fingers off the throttle...  ;D

In 1983 Honda pulled the cb750F out of the US market to focus on selling the v-four bikes here. However in the rest of the world they continued to sell the DOHC cb750F, and we got the nighthawk 750 as a replacement. These modern cb750's are just the continuation of the cb750F line in japan, the blue/white and red/white look unchanged for the last 4 years (the color scheme BTW is 82-83 cb1100F). That black/red paint scheme is new but I doubt the bike has changed much, physcially. The aftermarket for these bikes (as well as the original 79-83 DOHC cbs) is amazing, the amount of cool parts will knock you out.

They got that, we got the nighthawk. Life is not fair.

That cb400 twin is a neat looking bike

Japan knows they can't sell standard bikes here, so they don't try anymore. To most Americans, a bike recreation and not transportation, we don;t have use for practical bikes.

I'll try and find the pics, but the new kawasaki zephyer is a dead ringer for the 1973 Z1. We are not getting that either.

edit: found it -

http://www.kawasaki-motors.com/model/zephyr1100/index.jsp

This is cool, but if you ask kawasaki the zephyer is a failed model here in the states. they tried to sell them in the 1990s and 2000s (even in 1974 z1 style paint) and it went nowhere.

Oops, got to give my thanks to COSMO for the pictures.  I was paying attention to the bikes and not who submitted them.  My bad.  Thanks ProTeal for the clarification.  ;)

I wonder what could be done to talk to Honda USA to convince them to start importing those bikes here?  I'm going to look around and see what can be done.

It would be nice if Honda came out to battle the Thruxton.

be nice if the thruxton was selling.

Honda already built a retro cafer racer, but it was 10 years too early to battle the thruxton. It was called the GB500 and it sold like snowballs in the north pole.

Won't happen. The japanese companies know better. They all have retro models in their lineups because the japanese kids go crazy for them but for now they are content not to lose money on retro models in america.

This needs the cafe treatment.

My thoughts exactly.

Ditch the bars. Replace with clip-ons or clubmans at the minimum.

Rearsets.

Loose the cast wheels and get some spokes.

Out with the front and rear fenders and those side covers. I am not crazy about the tank on the 750. The 400 looks better to me.

Replace the seat with a single and get rid of the Trans-Am looking tail.

Hmmm... If anyone has just the frame and the motor for cheap, let me know.

Joking of course. Not really my style but it will be interesting to see how these will look to me in 30 years.

I would ride it if it did not handle like those damn Sabre's. Those were terrible. The rake and trail was just unacceptable.

If you do a google translatoin for the 400SS, it is a single piston engine.  the second exhaust purt helps in full combustion of the exhaust for reduced emissions.
it is a 2into 1 exhaust for a single piston.  really cool and I like it just the way it is, myself.  please honda USA, import these to the US!!! 8)
