Topic: 78 CB750K cable routing/linkage hook up

I just bolted up my rebuilt carbs. I’m stuck on the cable routing/hooking up linkage. The bottom cable doesn’t seem to have enough length to hook it up. 78 CB750K factory carbs/tracker bars/stock length cables. Any tips or can you tell me what I’m doing wrong?

those cables look aftermarket....
both should fit into the retainers at the carb.  if they dont, theyre probably the wrong ones.

In this order:
>Route the cables to the right side of the steering neck (hard to tell from picts)
>Shorten the adjuster at the handlebar as much as possible by turning the nut and adjusting collar as close to the connection to the throttle tube as possible
>Disconnect the upper cable and make the lower cable connection first, then tighten it down in its bracket
>Make the upper cable connection last, then fit it to its bracket and adjust

If you are using the same cables that you started with then it will work. If you replaced the cables then compare them to the ones you removed.

Seems like the cable sleeve is too long. But there is plenty of slack as total cable length.

Are these the same cables you removed or did you buy new cables? If they are the same cables then you are doing something wrong. If they are new cables then compare them to the old cables.

I ordered new cables . And I no longer have the old ones.

If you have pd carbs ( you do) and you received cables for a 71-76, they will not work.

OEM cables are the only way to go.
Motion pro cables, even if you bought the correct ones, do not fit well.
A NEW MP pull cable stranded me when it snapped after about 200 mi.   
I put on the old, crusty 40 year old cable, and its still going strong.
