I tore down my carbs today to check float level adjustments and noted a variance between the location of the four slow jets. On the two carbs next to the choke lever, the slow jets seem to be in the correct location, i.e., to the left of the main jet. On the other two carbs, the slow jets are to the right of the main jet. Here is the deal, I noted this same issue when I rebuilt them completely about 10,000 miles ago. However, I replaced the slow jets in the same location that they were in when I tore them apart. I have been experiencing a lag in acceleration, hence, the float adjustment or possibly two slow jets in the wrong place. I did purchase a handy dandy float level tool and have found out the floats were out.
So, here is my question. Should all of the slow jets be in the same place (left of the main) or does it matter since the other two holes are threaded and seem to take the slow jets? Thanks for any assistance.
