Engine bearing questions.
« on: November 09, 2018, 11:10:09 PM »
I've got most of my engine cases back from getting ceramic coated and have almost got all the 'must replace' parts for the rebuild. Have a couple of questions, with more to follow I'm sure.

1. Is plastigauge acceptable for checking clearances, or should I invest in a micrometer and dial gauge? If the latter, do I need Mitoyo quality/cost?

2. Are the transmission bearings assembled dry? If not, what's the best way to pre-lube them?

Thanks, as always, appreciate peoples advice for what are probably very basic questions.
