Throttle valves on 1977 Hondamatic 750
« on: November 08, 2018, 08:20:11 PM »
Looking at the manual for the bike, I find there are supposed to be cutaway's  which must be turned towards the air filter in the carburetor when installed....13-4...Hondamatic manual,  I cannot see these looking into the intakes or exhaust side of the carbs,  could they be turned the wrong direction?.  I bought the bike on spec, it sat for two years but is all there, hoping to get it to run great again,  I replaced all the jets as per the manual, cleaned the carbs, have not started as yet, or tried, waiting for new clamps for the smaller carb intake side of the insulator tubes...would appreciate any help on this,  gonna be the winter project, winter is long up here

Anything could have happened before you got the bike.
When you pull them off , see if the cutaway is on the other side.,

so, should the slots be there?  looking into either side of the carbs, don't see anything on the throttle bodies

Automati  carbs are definitely different, smaller I think.
There may be no cutouts for avreason, but I don't know anything about the autos.

well, got her going tonight, motor sounds great,  took a bit to warm it up as the bowls were dry,  got a leak on number one carburetor,  probably an O ring cause it's above the float chamber, but really satisfied how she sounded,  still don't know about the cutaway's mentioned in the manual,  I know she runs  now, so I think I'll just strip it down and do the top end this winter,  with 40,000 plus, I think it probably needs the valves done for sure...
