Size of screws for mounting oil pump?
« on: November 11, 2018, 04:52:42 AM »
Hi,

I'm going to mount my oil pump back in the sump but I can't find the size of the bolts anywhere.

I assume its M6 but how long should they be?

(And no I don't have the old bolts. I bought the engine and I got the pump on the side).

Thanks guys!

Dan

Dont know off the top of my head but the parts list should tell you
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

Don't rely on a Haynes or Clymer manual. The factory service manual and parts list are downloadable - open the "manuals and technical documents" topic.
You can look at cmsnl.com - they show the size (thread and length plus head type) of the bolts in the parts lookup. You can even buy them there but their prices and shipping costs tend to be high.
For a CB750 they are all 6mm but various lengths and head types.

Sorry, it's a CB750 k4 1974 (I think, based on the serial number).

If you mean the o-rings and dowels that sits between the engine and the pump, I got it. I bought a rebuild kit from Vital Motorparts on eBay after recomendations from this forum and there is said o-rings included.
Unfortenatly I only have one of the dowels but hope to get some made.
