bike tow bracket.
« on: November 11, 2018, 08:41:04 PM »
I've had the need to tow bikes short distances recently and don't want to always drive across town to get my brothers trailer or drag a 750 into/out of my truck. I remember a discussion of the old trailer hitch tow brackets that tow a bike from the front wheel. I'm thinking of building one using a trailer tongue jack to raise it after strapping the bike on. I've got a pretty good idea of my design but does anyone have any pictures of something like that?

Bobby, regarding that first link, I'd hate to see an "800 pound" scooter.

Although, back in high school, a buddy of mine referred to his Sportster as his "Scooter".

Go metric, every inch of the way!

Probably would work just fine, depending on the quality of the work and materials. But, I wouldn'tput something as big and heavy as Larger Harley, Indian or equivilent. Not sure just how much weight that type would handle, but again, alot would dpend on the structure design and materials used. I have used a similar design, years ago, that I threw together, to haul a motorcycle, to the local car wash. And had no problem.

Try this one

This one got some good reviews and seems to be about the most decent one going, while not being too pricey at that.

I looked at building one after not liking the ones I see online. In the end I just borrowed my brothers trailer again. I want to build a low boy trailer, maybe with air suspension that would drop to the pavement.

Hey Don, if you do go the route of building a trailer, wonder if that would be suitable for the "Projects" forum? Be col to see, I am sure.  ;)

If it happens I'll do that. I build a tilt bed jr dragster trailer once. It was awesome and my jr high school age daughter helped mig weld it. She took shop class and embarrassed the boys when she knew how to use all of the tools. I'd love it to hold two or maybe three bikes, the three K0's would be awesome if I own them that long.

I'll bet it will be an interesting build Interesting. That is cool, that your Daughter can weld, much less Mig Weld. Great that she took shop AND embarrassed those boys!  ;D Too funny!
