Topic: replace camchain

has anyone replaced a camchain without splitting the bottom casing to remove the crankshaft.  I have heard of this done by removing a link in the chain and threading it through with the existing chain.  I see "vintage" has a replacement removeable  link that can be ordered,  how reliable would this be?

Never done it myself but in theory a riveted link is just as strong as any other link. The key is to get it just the right tightness. Too tight and it can bind and cause premature wear on lots of things.

think i vill  use a click type..as is used on rearhveel chainsand then solder the locking part..so it not can break Loose.
.if use a ..the rivetting type the right Tool must be used to press /riviting it..dont think ,,just hammer on the end is good for the free play of the link
