CB550 Choke slide question
« on: November 23, 2018, 03:41:35 PM »
Hello All, just joined and looking forward to learning lots about my sohc Honda, got a new to me 77 CB550, it was pretty much in boxes when I got it, trying to resurrect it, working on the carbs now and almost have them together.  Noticed that the choke shafts have some slop in the holes in the carbs, I searched around but couldn't find anything on these, is this normal or is the plastic bushing replaceable?  See attached pic.

Also, the felt washers are pretty much gone in a couple of the holes, how do I find replacements?

Thanks all in advance for any help you can provide.

None of those parts are available as spares, you have to make your own. May be worth trying to get a complete rack of carbs especialy if yours are the abysmal PD style!
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Thanks for the reply, the plastic bushings are not that bad, if they were readily available I would replace, but since they are not they are fine to reuse.  I think I found a source for the felt washers.
