I hear you. Appt on the 6th with cardiologist. He's going put me on the dyno......thx for your thoughts and prayers. Means a lot. We're going have a Purple 10 second bike next time out....915cc, low compression,  stock carbs, pump gas, elec start and charging system, might have to go hunting some street big bores around Boston....lol! ;D  Maybe if I was at 3% leakage might already be in the 10's, oh well if I can catch that bad ass 1000cc Monster I know the rider can fix it...again hehe. Thx Mike, your work was on display some last weekend, but not like its going be in 2019......

Just do what the doctor tells you and then worry about that 10 second pass. I don't feel motivated unless you're in the lanes with me so take care of yourself so we can go out and play again 😁

Yes sir, friend, partner and brother,  thx. I missed playing a lot......much more fun pulling the trigger than watching. So yeh, I'm being cautious and will do what he says.

Bill: The clutch bikes will do the 10's but when will that Yellow TURBO CB750 HONDAMATIC make a 10's pass, I would really like to see that before I quit the game [ kick starting these Hondas ] has taken me down a little. Will be to MAN CUP in Spring 2019.

Pops,

I'm pretty sure you'll see the return of at least one auto in 2019. I can't comment about a 10 second pass since I'm not working on one myself but a few others are in the process of getting ready.

If you intend to make the first race of the season, I'll miss you for that event. I have a potentially intense work related meeting to attend. I actually leaning less towards further participation at Man Cup and more towards XDA in Maryland. Jay has turned into a full blown race promoter and I don't like the way things are headed as far as prices etc..
I intend to do special events as they pop up and just have fun in 2019.

Is anyone doing something with the torque converters on the auto bikes? I seem to remember someone saying Coan transmissions did a Honda converter years back. A co2 cylinder shifter shifting on time would be killer consistent if it's legal.

Jim French had the converter in Samauto redone by a place in Houston. Contact him or Bill Benton for information.

I'm not building an auto bike yet but being a powerglide racer already that's how my thought process goes. It's amazing how a proper converter can keep the engine in the powerband all of the way down track.
Our car will run 7.50's but we race the 8.90 class. We launch full throttle for .1 second then throttle stop the rpm to 4200, shift into second at .7 seconds and at 2 seconds or so depending on the air we go full throttle to the finish line. I ran the same spragless converter for 10 seasons,  freshened at 3 and I just replaced it last spring because the car began to wheelie indicating a change at the hit.

Clarification on my run from the 10.80 pass. The bike uncharacteristically spun off the line. 60' was horrible and resulted in a big loss for me. The track was iffy in both lanes as the temps dropped and the dew fell on the surface. I had a crappy qualifying pass on my no bar 8.88 index Kaw due to the same loss of traction and spun 1st and 2nd gear. It was a low 9 second pass at over 155 mph if you can read in between the lines.

So how did the bikes do in the end numbers wise?  I was only able to catch a pair of runs.  Wilbur’s bike and Frankie’s bike on Saturday. 2nd round I think.

I heard Bill’s 915 with stock carbs Purple Rain ran low 11s and 119mph with between 1.6-1.8 60ft I think.  That’s great speed for stock carbs.  Another good example of how much power one can pull from those small carbs.

I think I saw a 10.8 from Frankie’s red bike after an uncharacteristic bog off the line.  Was your brother driving your bike this weekend Frankie?

I don’t recall any numbers from Bill’s Cobra Girl.

Anyone have pics to share?

George

2018 surely wasn't my best year in drag racing but I'm still grateful that I can throw a leg over a bike.  I experienced sciatica at the end of the 2017 season and it carried over into the beginning of 2018. I simply wasn't quite as enthused about racing this year but had a good time nevertheless. Definitely looking forward to starting the 2019 season on a better note.

Time to tear the engine down on the old F model and give it some much needed attention. Hope to have the project F ready and tested and will probably ride it in 2019 whenever my brother isn't racing it himself.

Time for the off season crazies people!!! Lol

No Angelo, if you look closer you can see the rear tire is on the ground. That shiny megaphone blocks the tire from that angle and makes it look like the bike bunny hopped. 😁
