Side note:

110 mm front tires do not fit on my particular bike. I bought a set of tires a while back and had them sitting in my garage, decided to finally have them mounted and my mechanic said that it was a no go. So if anyone has an need for a 110mm front tire, please let me know, its just taking up space in my garage now.

I cannot believe its been almost 4 years since i've posted here. Its been almost 3 years since I've started my bike. Too many irons in the fire as they say... and not that my work/hobby load has lessened but I almost pulled the trigger on a Thruxton 900 and realized how much of a fool I would be to not get the CB750 back on the road.

Luckily I emptied the carbs before I put it away so many years ago... crossing my fingers that with some fresh fuel in the tank it'll fire back up but we shall see.

My biggest complaint with the ride was the standard peg position being a bit cramped so I ordered some Cognito Rear sets yesterday to motivate me to get the bike back on the road. Also ordered a Ricks Regulator/Rectifier combo.

My intent is to (hopefully) Ride it some this spring/summer then do a proper tear down (as was always the original goal) this winter and really go nuts with the build.

Soooo I didnt get the bike started last year. Didnt even move it form its corner of the garage. But this year will be different I think!

Ordered some fresh oil. Will start poking around this week after the oil arrives and a fresh battery is installed.

Crossing my fingers that the thing at least still spins? We'll see

Update!

Sent my carbs to "Oldskoolcarbs" on Facebook on November 17th. Was quoted about a month. Should have them back in a week or so. Have him painting them black and am looking forward to getting them back on the car.

Met a couple local motorcycle shops in the past couple months also.

Hoping to get the bike running and ride this summer while installing minor parts along the way.

Two steps forward... 4 steps back but we're getting there.

I'm surprised rear sets are a more comfortable option for your given your size, I would consider forward controls from tc bros. While giving a totally different look, my buddies bike that has them was one of the most comfortable riding bikes I've ridden....just an option.

Rear sets on a CB are not as extreme as a sports bike. They are very close to a modern standard naked bike.

Picked up a spare set of front forks to send to Racetech and a spare rear swingarm to go to Hondaman 🥳

Carbs are coming back from Oldskoolcarbs this coming week!

Swingarm is off to Hondaman!

Order form is filled out for Racetech and the forks are ready to get shipped off to California. Will order a set of their rear shocks also. Was quoted 4-8 weeks for the forks and shocks to be built. No rush.

Im curious which way the build should go.

Debating if there is a way to realistically upgrade to a motogadget setup before I completely strip the bike down for its build. I have parts from Cognito Moto and other shops that would "bolt on" also. I do like seeing the step-by-step progression but it might be "easier" to just strip the thing down to a frame and start from scratch?

I've noticed when I get off of a GL1000 and get on a cb750 I feel like a jockey on a racehorse and I've only got a 34" inseam. It only seems odd for a few seconds then I'm back in the groove.

Look who’s back!!

My dreams of putting my bike back together myself have come to an end. I simply dont have the time.

Also, fear of the unknown. I dont have a clue on how to tune/reinstall carbs. And the shop that previously worked on the bike for me shut down during COVID. Classic.

Ive been looking around and ran across an outfit in VA called MotoRelic. Talked with the owner a couple times and he seemed to answer all my questions with confidence. I trailed my bike down to him two weeks ago and its almost road worthy again!

Sean was able to install:

Rebuilt carbs (that had a small leak still, he was able to correct it easily)
RaceTech Forks, RaceTech Shocks, Tarozzi Fork Brace
Cognito Moto Rear Sets (passenger pegs had to be deleted)
EBC Brake disk, pads, etc
HondaMan Rebuilt Swing Arm
Dyna S Ignition upgrade along with Rick’s Regulator/Rectifier
All Balls bearings in wheels and steering head
It’ll be good to get back on the road finally!

My big plans to have the entire bike gone through are still in place. Will likely plan the next step with Sean in the coming months and drop it off in the summer to have him go at it!

Glad to be back!

It will be rideable. Tires have virtually no miles on them but are about 5 years old... bike's been stored inside so it should be fine for a couple runs around the neighborhood until the weather requires me to park it for the winter again.

Hoping to bring it home Friday... calling for rain of course
