Fork tube question
« on: November 19, 2018, 01:48:23 PM »
I removed the fork tubes from my non running KO CB750 to replace the seals. I realized that the two tubes are different. I’m assuming that one of them is not original because it is and has been missing the snap ring or collar, probably because the recess for that part is located about a half inch than it is in the other tube. I’m not sure how the performance of the shock was affected but I’m guessing it had to have been noticeable. My question is where could I purchase a good quality correct tube and ring. The parts for the KO are different than the K1 in the picture. K1 are the two on top. The K1 has a plastic sliding collar and the ring appears larger on the K0 with the brass collar. I’m guessing that the last owner rode it as is. I haven’t ridden it since I have owned it. Please excuse  my lack of correct terminology. Thanks.

You could add the snap ring groove to the one in the lower pic.

Several companies sell tubes. Google is your friend. I bought a set from nichecycle.com.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will attempt cutting a groove. If that doesn’t work, I’ll try my friend google for a new replacement. I’ll also have to find that correct slightly larger fork pipe stopper ring used for that earlier brass fork pipe guide. I’m not too confident in my ability to cut that groove correctly but I’ll give it a shot.
