Hi All,
Hello from the south bay of Los Angeles!
Starting a CB750F supersport project and I know thi forum will be invaluable.
Picked up a 1975 cb750F for next to nothing. The bike so far has almost a complete engine, frame (without title but bill of sale), tank, and a bunch of miscellaneous (swing arm, rear wheel, forks, etc.
A cb750F cafe racer has been a dream bike of mine for a long time so I'm excited but a little nervous about the project.
The frame is without title which I know is bad, probably has back fees, but in CA there are ways around this. With the price I got all the parts for I couldnt pass up the opportunity. Anyone have success with getting a VIN registered without the title and avoiding back fees?
The crown jewel and the reason I couldnt pass up the purchase is the NOS tank. That's right, NOS. Never used, still have the factory rubber protector on the petcock, and absolutely no rust anywhere. It's quite literally a perfect tank.
First question before I start figuring out the parts I need, I want to make sure I do indeed have the correct motor for a 1975 cb750F.
According to this site I do:
http://www.hondachopper.com/engine/engine_timeline/timeline.html engine # is CB750E-2513606. This is the correct engine right? If so, what years of the CB750 supersports have compatible parts? Can I use parts from say a 1978 model?
I'll also be looking into an engine cleaning services like vapor blasting, as well as boring the cylinders, balancing the heads, etc. Anyone have recommendations here? cycleX is a little pricey. I'd like to get an 836CC kit.
Any other recommendations/tips are welcome! I've rebuilt a few bikes, but never a CB.
Thanks and looking forward to learning from you all!
