Number 4 Carby drips out of overflow after a ride
« on: December 19, 2018, 11:04:18 PM »
Issue is:
Sometimes my number four carby will leak whats left in its bowl out the overflow after I shut the bike down, not immediatly but I will come the next morning and find it like this.
Is it just the angle the bike sits on the side stand? (Longer forks on it) or must I go fiddle with the float?

Its a CB750K4

The overflow should not empty the entire bowl. The overflow will only drain out to the top of the brass standpipe. If the float valve is stuck the bowl would be constantly filling and the excess gas would drain out the overflow tube.
If just the bowl itself is draining to empty I would suspect a crack in the brass overflow standpipe inside the bowl. These can be hard to detect visually. I would take the bowl off the carb and fill it with gas and observe it for leaks. Also keep an eye on the drain screw in case the o-ring there is leaking.
Start with the bowl , it’s the easiest thing to test and rule out first. Good luck.

If the float/float valve is not functioning properly, and youve failed to shut off your fuel at the petcock, you could empty the whole tank onto the floor.  If your petcock is off, and does its job, you'll only empty what is above the carbs in the fuel line.
Service all your carbs if you havent already done so.  If one is having troubles, the others might be next.
