Topic: Kick starter removal mod?

 When the Drag Race guys were bending the kick starters with the old ARD's and too much timing there was a modification they did so the kick start could come out of the side without splitting the cases. Does anyone remember how that worked? I want to say it's something to do with getting the roll pin out and holding it in place.

I wish I knew how to get all of the parts back in without splitting the cases. I tried but I'm sure you know how that turned out. Lol.

I blew my countershaft once at a racetrack.
 Had to split cases. Once the motor is out, only a couple hours..

I never thought about it before, but now that you mention it, the roll pin may only be there for assembly-line purposes, like the cotter-pin on the front brake pads. Once the clutch cover is installed, it limits the lateral movement of the shaft, and with the cover removed and no pin installed, it *may* be possible to slide the shaft out of the gear for replacement?

Yes, the shaft can probably be replaced if the roll pin is not in place. It seems to help keep the shaft stabilized closer to the gear and kick pawl. The hardest part would be lining up the splines in the kick pawl assembly.

 It seems like they shortened the roll pin and added something to keep it from coming out, A bolt and clamp or something. I'm going from memory of a post here somewhere, I never did it myself.
