1981 CB650C help with carb cleaning
« on: December 29, 2018, 06:32:30 PM »
Recently bought my first bike (1981 Honda CB650C) and am cleaning the carbs, everything is going well except I can't figure out how to remove the needle jet, and my manual just says to "tilt the carb and remove the needle jet." Any advice would be very helpful, and I can post pictures if that will make it easier. I've been stuck on this for a few days now, thanks in advance!

on my 82 cb650sc you have to go down the hole in the center of the slide from the top side with a flat head and unscrew the little plug screw to remove the needle.

Everything you need to know can be found here http://www.cb750c.com/publicdocs/SeanG/Honda_Carb_Manual_revG.pdf.  Also consider a white vinegar/water soak over pinesol or simple green, both of which can damage the metal.  I found berrymans b12 to be a far superior carb cleaner to gumout or others.

Just to be clear, are you talking about the "needle jet" or the "jet needle"? They are different.
