1974 CB550K Exhaust replacement
« on: December 30, 2018, 06:53:24 AM »
I have a another question for the group. We just rebuilt the  carbs on our father/son 1974 CB550K restore. Last item left is the exhaust, the existing 4 to 2 system is rusted and needs replacement. When we put the carbs on, we want to adjust with the new pipes on already.

My question is the 4 to 4 exhaust that originally came with it is out of our price range, I checked the forum exhaust gallery, and there seem to be alot of options. We decided that a 4 to 1, like that looks the 75 550F pipes would be a good look. We kept the bike stock and period correct to this point. We are not looking for speed or performance, but a stock look.  Does anyone in the group have a recommendation for exhaust?

Thank you in advance this forum has been a great resource for us.

1. I don't know how much a Delkevic costs.
2. I do know how much the repro 4-4 cost.
3. I also know that the trade value of your bike will rise easily with the amount: (cost 4-4) minus (cost Delkevic) and will probably surpass it.
So this is what I'd do: complete your resto and tuning and see if you like the bike. If it runs fine and you like it, invest! Hey, there is two of you.
