Harley Roadracers 2 stroke.
« on: January 02, 2019, 10:01:49 pm »
I was at the Deeley Museum today in Vancouver.
They had 2 Aermacchi racers were there , former Deeley team bikes.
I think Steve Baker raced for them  May have been only Yamaha.

Anyway what surprised me, was having 2 large AP calipers up front.. I mean 250 or 350 cc, had to be able to do stoppies I would think.
I don't think there are many of these out there.

Jimmy Dunn raced them for sure, at least in North America.

walter villa took 3 250 world titles in 250 74-76 + one 350 title in 76 with these, so they were pretty fast. besides the works bikes a few dozen were made for privateers. development was done in the aermacchi factory in varese, the site of the current mv agusta factory.
big calipers they might be, but with those small discs not sure it was stoppie time...

there are a couple of vintage people running them for real (i.e. not just demo laps) here in our national series

Here’s one that was in the AHRMA display at the New York motorcycle show.

There is a 4 stroke racer listed on the Mecum auction, lot F235. It's on the 8th page.
