1 carb 1975 CB550 Four not getting fuel
« on: January 03, 2019, 01:01:32 PM »
1 cylinder not firing. Plug is clean as a whistle, dry, getting spark and looks brand new.

Removed drain screw from bowl and only a few drops of fuel emptied. Removed bowl, float appears functional and bowl looks clean

My question is what the most likely culprit and hopefully easiest thing to check next?

(Carbs 2, 3 and 4 are getting plenty of fuel and seem to be firing without any issues).

Thanks for any help.

Thanks,

I'll check emulsion tube/pilot jet.

Header #1 is cold.

Sorry,

Header gets warm to mildly hot but nothing like the other 3. I'm convinced it is a lack of fuel problem. I'll let you know what I find.

Thanks.

It will get hot from the spark plug firing even without fuel.
Wrong!! A non-firing cylinder can get warm from Compression, Not from the spark.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

What do you mean by "float appears functional"? With the float bowl off, does gas flow out of the needle valve with the petcock turned on?

Needle valve was sticking. Cleaned it, plenty of fuel flowing into bowl now. Cylinder hot as F*^*& now.

Thanks for the help.
