I may have missed it in a previous post..., are you installing Viton "O" rings in the carbs? I highly recommend them.

I didn't specify anything.  I just picked up some carb rebuild kits from 4 into 1 with one of our many orders from them lol.

Got the carbs shoved on to see how it would all look painted up.



Pretty satisfied with the way they turned out.  Also got the new plug wires most of the way together, going to solder the crimped ends tomorrow at work and they'll be good to go.



Also began to modify the original coil brackets so i can make them work for the new coils.  I think im going to get the brackets all straight and cleaned up, throw some paint on them and see what they look like.  If I'm not happy with them once they're cleaned up  and painted ill take and have them scanned and machined so they're all nice and pretty.



Yes, i realized you don't even seen the brackets or anything, but meh, I'd know they were under there and it would bother me in the long run.

Installed your float bowls wrong and if you want a good clear look into the 2kmax stuff but its very potent.

I guess I wasn't very clear, I was not going to paint the coils them selves, just the small brackets that bolt to the coil and then mount on the frame. I'd just paint them and then sand the mounting points bare to ensure a solid contact. I suppose if I hit them with some Media really quick it will probably clean off the minor corrosion and look better.  I'll go that route and see what it looks like.  Thank you for the tip!

It's a little difficult to distinguish exactly which USD front you are grafting onto the 400f.  I assume (and I could be wrong since the gloss powdercoat is so shiny) that you've laced a Cognitomoto front hub.  Looks like a triple with stockish offset, too.

Yessir.  It's a GSXR front end with the stock offset.  She wants to keep the stock look with the modern goodies.  Couldn't even talk her into clip ons, had to stick with the tracker bar!

Cool.  With the lighter weight and power of the 400f, it would lend itself to a single modern rotor up front (saving a little weight).

Some more updated bits











Tires and tubes will be here Friday.  Once we get those mounted up we can begin assembly of pretty much everything.  Still need to order some odds and ends all around.  Probably going to send the exhaust out to get recoated so it looks brand new!  We also need to order brake rotors, which are insanely expensive :(

Long time no update....

Got some tires mounted up.



Also got the fuse block in the mail!



Got the headlight clamps fitted and blinkers installed.



For the first time i put power to the harness and turned the key.  No smoke, no fire, no burning so thats a plus!  Gauge lights work.  Info center works.  Blinkers work.  Brake light works.  Must have done something right so far!

Thanks! I think were going to end up doing something very similar on her Triumph Street Twin to get rid of the bulky plastic ones.

I didn't know that the new Triumph Street Twin had plastic fork ears. My Thruxton R doesn't.

I suppose they could be metal. I didn't really look at them closely to be honest. I just know she Complains about the look of them lol.

Old thread, I know... I'm cruising around looking for info and ideas for my CB400...

Does anyone know what happened with this build?  I wonder why these guys disappeared so close to finishing?
