CB550 Brake Drum Bearing Sleeve
« on: January 11, 2019, 03:55:31 am »
A few minutes ago I was knocking out the rear wheel bearings on my 74 CB550 and I noticed inside the brake drum surrounding the bearing was a steel sleeve obviously put there to support the cast ally hub outside of the bearing housing.
Thinking this was a mod or repair executed by a previous owner I started to run through my repertoire of profanities as I thought this might be a bodge!
After studying some rather blurry pictures on the web it looks like this might be standard from the factory.
My question is this. Is this sleeve standard from the factory? I attach a photo.

The rear drum on my 78 looks the same.  Don't worry about it.
