I saw a couple Honda's sell average bikes average prices. Big old aftermarket seats. I'd at least throw on a stock repro.
I'm watching on youtube and keeping track of the bikes on the mecum lot page. Had to go to the bathroom and missed the first 750 today.  A Z50 Christmas edition mini bike with the chrome tank sold for $12K.

I'm scrolling through results at the website. $90K for a Ducati 750SS and $18k(!) for a naked KZ1300

I was trying to watch the kz1300 sell but my buddy that owns the bike shop was on the phone. I had to tell him a bike like his Special chrome tank Christmas edition Z50 sold for $12,000. He said no wonder so many people try to buy it. I thought there were going to be a couple sandcasts listed but didn't see them. Maybe it was a different auction.

Those Z50's are getting crazy money

Nortons are not getting a lot of love. Several 750 Commandos selling for less than SL70's, which were consistently hitting $6k+. WTH? Cute little bikes, but 6 grand?

On Wednesday a sweet K5 went for $7,150 and a really nice 400 Super Sport for $6,325 . A few 80's Jap bikes sold for reasonable money, an '83 GS100E for $3,300, an '83 1150ES (my favorite 80's GS) for $3,575, beautiful red/white '81 CB900 Bol D'Or sold for $3,575, an '81 GPz1100 for $4,400, and a naked '76 GL1000 with 12k miles for $5,500.

If I ever go to this with the intent to buy it will be during the mid-week time. There seems to be better deals.

The nice original Sandcast went for $27,500. The period café Sandcast went for $17,600 despite the silly estimate of $32k-$40k as if originality isn't important in a Sandcast. Mecum seriously misjudged the market for that bike. The description says: This bike has had three private owners, and while it was originally a green model, it was built as a custom machine sometime in the 1970s. The MC Collection acquired it in this state and has wisely chosen to preserve this remarkable period piece as it was constructed in the day.

I'm not sure it was particularly wise and it still doesn't give the engine or frame serial numbers to know what .

There are 2 more Sandcasts that goes on the block Saturday.

Thanks for the heads up. I went to the shop for a while, my shop furnace took the big poo and I decided to clear the weber carb project off the bench before making more of a mess.

Is it that green pig with the inverted fork and probably wheels that could not have been built back in the day.?
It has to be someone without a bike building bone in their body, but lots of cash. To pay that...

Prices seem to be all over the place, I saw a Seeley G50 Matchless ex- Team Obsolete, estimated at up to £50k, sold for $11k, and a new RC30 made $120k.

Out of curiosity, are there buyer's premium or taxes to add to the prices? Some auctions here (UK) the buyer's premium is 20% + tax.

I'd love to have been there to see the difference between an 18K sandcast and a 35K sandcast. I'm guessing the difference is who was bidding and when it was offered more than the quality of the bike.

One of the $35k sandcasts didn't actually sell by the looks of things.  Did anyone spot any other SOHC4s? Takes forever to go through the catalogue!

I did see an NR750 made something like $175k, rather surprisingly.

I wanted to go watch, I live 5 minutes from there. I have been so busy, this is the first time in a few years I have not gone. I am going to get on the bike in a few and go for a ride though. It's almost 70 degrees right now.

If you are at the website on a computer rather than a phone or tablet you can search by make and model, which narrows things down significantly.

I was watching on TV tonight, it's the Friday bikes, they showed the painted fender sandcast but skipped the café racer sandcast. The big tank Crocker brought a big tank full of money. $650,000 was it?
The red 1447 sandcast was nice but the tech page said it had a matching number engine. it had original paint patina, makes me second guess my choice to leave my original paint. I'd have removed the rack and put a grab handle on it, at least for the sale. The seat was low, either the red foam settling or cut down like a lot of guys did.  I wouldn't have been too thrilled with $19,800. The Vic World blue one at $35K was as always, a sweet bike. I noticed the painted fender sandcast had cb400F handlebars on it.
Maybe it's just me and I shouldn't be critical, but I'd make a little effort before going to an auction. A grab bar or a set of fenders and handlebars is pretty easy. Even chrome beaded edge fenders would be better to my jaded eye.

Someone on facebook remarked about very similar bikes bringing vastly different prices and gave several examples. I think one was a pair of cbx's that were very close in quality but way different in selling price.

Yes there's a CBX-B that made $24k for some bizarre reason. Couple of interesting good prices include a NC30 that made $24k, as did an NS400R, while an 85 GSXR750 made $18k. You could buy all 3 of those here in the UK for $18k total.  Likewise the Kawa triples seem mostly cheap. This Phil Read Rep was nice at £15k, while for a bargain I'd think this CA77 takes some beating

That fairing looks awful, the proportions are all wrong. It looks like a stock exhaust header too. Definitely doesn't seem to rate a selling price 3x what a regular clean F2/3 should go for.

I was just blown away by how much the small Hondas are going for, the Z50's and SL70's and 100's. I can get a clean K3 or 4 with pipes intact for what those Z50's were getting. $6-7k for a minibike, I just don't get it.

It’s crazy the way z50, CT70 are proved and sold even on eBay and pvt listings fail to understand
