CL350 timing advance doesn't fit on cam
« on: January 17, 2019, 04:34:15 PM »
I am helping a buddy rebuild a '71 CL350 that he's had sitting around for years. He doesn't have the timing advance mechanism and I've tried a couple used ones off eBay and they don't fit on the cam shaft. Has anyone had the same problem? Could his cam be from a different bike? Maybe an SL?

The part number is 30220-286-014 that I've tried.  They had "286" stamped on them like I assume they should but I read on a site that CL parts from that year should have "318" stamped on them. I can't find any advance mechanisms that have that number stamped on them though. There are some with "312" on them that the SL would use.

Where the advance mechanism should slid onto the cam measures 11.2mm if that helps anyone figure this out.

Any help is appreciated.

Have you checked on the hondatwins forum?  Wealth of info there on these bikes.
