New from Columbus!
« on: April 08, 2019, 08:29:40 AM »
Hey there! I'm Chris, I live in ohio, and I recently bought a 1982 Cb650 over the winter that I am rebuilding and hoping to bring back to life!

I am a stagehand/production assistant for a local music production company

I Used to drive Box trucks as a moving supervisor, and I was AAA roadside assistance most of last year.

The forums have been a really great resource in helping me work on this bike and I hope I can share more and provide content that can fill in the blanks for other restoration projects!

I have spent the last month dive bombing into the manuals and diagrams

My bike has leaky float bowls, doesnt start, no working lights, and a variety of electrical issues I hope a later post can help me solve efficiently

I honestly have never rode anything bigger than a 2 stroke dirt bike so I am really excited yet anxious to ride this!

Welcome from NE MN,

For the carbs there are two options, buy a bunch of parts or send them off to a carbs specialist.  I started with option 1.  After cleaning and replacing floats and valves, I ended up using option 2 to get dependable bike.  Actually bought a second set of carbs and had them rebuilt.

She is definitely becoming more trouble than I expected

good things come in good time

I have a carb rebuild kit with valves on it's way

actually accidentally ordered the 900 gaskets first so have to return or resell those huh xD

honestly the electrical is becoming the biggest problem but only so much more I can replace before something sparks!

Some chowder head hooked up a battery or jump backwards. Common. People don't read the terminal stamps. Their illiteracy is your plight.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S.
