hey guys.. yet another issue on my rebuild ..

here is a picture of the gear shifting mechanism. i took out all the linkage to see if anything was damaged, and im trying to find another spring with more springiness for the gear shift arm. but i used my had to turn it into gear and it doesnt go passed neutral very much, barely reaches second gear.. goes into 1st gear and neutral only.

You have to rotate the counter-shaft back and forth while shifting.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Probably not broken, but you will need to correctly reassemble the shifting mechanism, and then see if it shifts properly with the counter-shaft rotated. The "dogs" on the gears need to be aligned with their mating slots before the trans can be shifted.

i was assembled correctly. i tried to dry shift the gears while everything was assembled, and it wouldnt go into 2nd/3rd/4th/5th.. thats when i took it all apart to try to find out why. how do i rotate the counter shaft?just roll the bike around?

Was able to get the bike down from the lift and got the kickstarter back on, couple pumps and it fixed my issue with the gear shifts!

Only thing is, id like to replace the spring on the shift lever, they seem to be discontinued and no aftermarket sites i check sell it. Also local hardware stores didnt have anything similar.. any ideas?
