CB550K1 - Master cylinder rebuild - fine cleaning / polishing
« on: February 10, 2019, 03:45:20 pm »
I'm preparing for the MC rebuild, MC is now after multiple ultrasonic baths, almost clean inside. But still there are some residuals inside MC - what can I use to fine clean or polish it w/o changing ID or risking mechanical damage?

Some time ago I remember advice to use steel wool 0000 for caliper, can I use it too? If so, just dry or with some oil?

I tape some very fine steel wool to a small (long) drill bit and let the rest wind around. Trim to fit..... Insert carefully and spray in penetrating oil. Spin, moving in and out for 30 seconds. Amazing finish!

You know, I don't know why I have this adversity to rebuilding old Honda MC's. I have tried and they still perform sucky. I'm sure its just me but I have replaced every bike I own with a new MC. Don't know what I'm doing wrong but the replacement modern ones rock.

Well, was thinking the same, still an option. Can you recommend the new one that is better quality than stock Honda and looks the same? I want to keep stock look. And idelly also stock lever
