The further we got into it , the worse the frame looked..
Luckily I had a second 78 K frame.
As it turns out   less than 400 apart, both Jan 78.
The second frame had a Mich or Minn dealer tag, the first I assume was drom the west coast..
Pics of frame damage coming later.

I been working on HD baggers a bit in the last 1.5 years..
And there was a crunched front fender around the place I work on them..
And I had this idea to cut off the tip of  a front fender, and the mental pic in my mind said it should look ok.
fast forward to today. . Cut the tip off, banged it out a bit, then headed to my workshop and did some mockup..
Gotta say.. it EXCEEDED my mental vision..
I think it will look good..

I`ve picked up more than my share of bikes the same way! You`d be surprised what you can fit into the back of a jeep liberty! Good luck.
Start with the end in mind...

I dunno what fits better..that fender as a seat cowl or a whole bike shoehorned in the back of the wagon. That tail looks nice can't wait to see it finished.

Tews, look at the last pic..
 Where shall I start..
The area around the points has been replaced with bigger tubing. Then the 2 front mounts are not in line.
Visible in the pic, I will get closeups.
Then the whole kickstand  side lower tune is pushed up, you can see a big wrinkle above side stand and another by front lower  mount, the kickstand bracket is angled  out and up about 10 degrees..
 Sounds bad, there is more.
The rear frame by fender mounts is pushed down about1/ to 1/2 inch, taillight was drooping.
And I thought that was bad, but..
The shock mounts also are angled wrong..
And then , unbelievably, after we pulled motor I realized cross bar that supports center stand is also bowed up..
Other than that, not too bad..

And the engine, surprisingly faired pretty good..
One main bolt boss by the points is welded,  pretty good job..
And the fukstik welded up the place a drain plug should be on the oilpan.. yes really..
First bike I had to drill a hole in the pan to  drain the oil..

Damn Frank! Have you seen that many issues on one frame before? It seems like it may have been in a spill or two! Glad you were able to use another frame that is close in numbers too. Eitherway sounds like you are moving forward!

Put on the Goldwing front end, and tried out the Night Hawk rear wheel . He wants to run 16 up front.
Looks like it can work with a disc adaptor and a cover over the drum opening. .
 Fat tire for the front.
