Ducktail seat parts report?
« on: February 21, 2019, 06:55:30 PM »
I'm looking at rebuilding the seat on a late K0. Has anyone bought one or parts for one they especially liked or didn't like lately?  (I know Yamiya, but money is an object).
I'm thinking of the Top Quality Covers seat cover and a red foam from Yamiya on a stock seat pan. That way I can put an original seat pan, red foam and logo'd cover back on my diecast bike and move the DSS repro seat with the too hard foam to the newcomer late K0.
This K0 appears to have an original seat with red foam and a cracked out cover, but the chrome trim is higher than usual at the back of the seat. I'll try to apply it on the rebuild where my other bikes have it, down low.

Don...... I just finished my own K0 restoration. My seat was really bad. I repaired and painted the seat pan (after dismantling it). The foam was completely shot, but I saved the chrome trim and the hard rubber bump piece, from the duck tail. At the time, there was a guy selling covers on EBay: “Bob the seat”. I traded emails with him and ended up posting him the freshly painted pan, trim and bump piece. It took a few months, because he spends some time wintering in Spain or Portugal, but what came back was absolutely perfect! And from memory, he only charged me about $250 + postage. Greatguy and absolutely perfect work. He did not use red foam, but I dyed mine around the holes....... try sending him an email to: morettidirect@aol.com.

A neighbor came by to see what's in my shop. I gave her the nickel tour and showed her the Sandcast and Diecast bikes. She instantly pointed out how much better the original seat cover looked than the obvious reproduction seat. I was impressed.
