As I’m waiting for the cylinders to return I’ve finished off the wiring. Have used the ignitech programable ignition along with a smiths Motorsport tacho.

Backend of the tacho is not so pretty yet. Just working out which wire to keep so I can get rid of all the others. We also have to run a lanyard style kill switch.

Cheers mike. I was inspired by bwaller and rocket mans builds. About 5 years ago I read a magazine article on the Davies 500 and instantly fell in love. Pictures have adorned the garage walls since and the seed was planted. It’s getting closer to reality now and can’t wait to get it completed. Thank you for the information you sent through. I have the more modern model fairing.  How was the job of fitting the fairing? Did the mount points seem to match up well or did it take some muscling?  Also where and how did you attach the lower portions of the fairing?

Doesn’t Davies makes a fairing for their frame?  Was thinking that Brent used it on his. When the bike had the end over end crash it really tore it up… but, that is normal on many fairings. I cannot understand how MotoAmerica bikes can go down and come out fully rideable after a low side when anytime you drop most street bikes in a low side you are looking at repairs…

The fairing attached up quite well. The Davies fairing is made for narrow engine case tho so you would probably need to remove the alternator or make a hole for it to poke through. Top mounting is off a fairing bracket and the bottom mount is from the top rear engine bolt. I turned up a couple of plugs to slip inside the pipe for quick release. On a street bike I would probably just bolt it directly to the mounting shaft. Once you have everything all lined up then a small bolt in either side bracket will stop the whole thing slipping down. I read somewhere earlier to make sure you have your exhaust on when fitting. If you don’t you will probably end up having to put a zip tie through your hole to hold everything in place while you think about your stupidity and have to drill another hole through your freshly painted fairing and then go through the hassle of plugging the hole that’s in the wrong spot by about an inch and then touch up the paint to hide your mistake. I should have read that tip earlier 😩 photos to follow.

A little bit of jmr goodness arrived in the mail today. Just the head to go and I can wake up the neighbourhood. Cylinders are all done but have to wait until the country is out of lockdown.

Been spending a few nights checking everything over. Degreeing the cam and checking valve clearances. 1st race is in a couple of months so need to get a wriggle on. Just dropping a standard head and cam on top while I get a proper head machined and ported.

Lotsa bubble wrap to stop the scratches and then we had the engine back in the frame. Now the push is on for all the bits and pieces. Getting closer.
