Maybe I'm hesitant to build a wheel because of my cycling background. Building a wheel for a bicycle is literally the last thing even the most self-reliant amateur (and pro) mechanics will take on. Maybe the comparatively lightweight, narrow bicycle wheels are more difficult to build? They also require special tools - like a dishing tool, truing stand, tensionometer, patience... I don't have all of those tools ;-)
I like the idea of pulling the wheels to do - whatever I'm going to do - properly. If the only thing that comes out of this is a safety inspection and new wheel bearings, it's a win.
Can anyone point me to a tutorial on removing the wheels - disconnecting the speedo, brakes, etc. I've assembled and installed engines in Jeeps... and don't yet know how to pull a wheel off a motorcycle. Yeah, this is my starting point.
Thanks!
