Hello from Minnesota
« on: February 15, 2019, 02:05:21 PM »
Hello from central Minnesota, Delano to be exact. Not new to motorcycles, but new to road riding. I road for many years in my youth off road, but 20 years later I finally got a road bike and got my permit. Started with a 1982 Kawasaki KZ750 barn find and have resurrected it. I enjoyed that project so much that I decided to pick up another project bike. This time I found a 1973 Honda CB350F, the 4 cylinder version. I won't say how much I paid for it, as I do't want people hating me already. :-) Needless to say, its been sitting for quite a few years and will need to be completely gone through. But it is mostly all original and in overall pretty good shape. Previous owner painted "ghost" flames on the fuel tank and the exhaust was replaced at one point. Needs to be replaced again. Hoping the process of resurrecting it will be smooth, but I'm sure I'll have questions along the way.

Thanks all, and happy riding.

Welcome from the North Shore,

Don't be to quick to tear the engine apart.  My bike sat neglected for 20 years.  Started the resurrection by putting new oil in each cylinder and letting it sit for a day.  Then carefully used the kick starter to see if it would roll over with the spark plugs out.  It did.

Thanks for the advice. Thankfully, I've already kicked it over and know the engine isn't froze up. My plan is to change the oil and filter, pull the carbs and do a full clean/rebuild, and then just a thorough inspection of the rest of the bike before attempting to start it. Hoping there's nothing major. The guy I bought it from mentioned that he thought it had a misfire the last time he had it running several years ago.

Good plan.
