Yeah, just took a few pics. Bought it from a guy in Manhattan Beach. 3300 miles, essentially untouched, very original. Cleaning off all the grunge now so I can decide what I want to do with it.

Very cool! I believe I did see this one. He had it on ebay but it didn't meet reserve.

Thank you. Quite possible, he did want top dollar for it so not surprised it didn't meet reserve. I probably over paid for it but its so complete and original I had to have it. I think the only things that have been replaced on it were the tires and fuel hose.

If I remember correctly it did have some crusty spots here and there. But, if you want a complete 400F especially in blue then you have to be willing to pay out the ass. So I'm sure whatever you paid was right. It wasn't like you could have gone down the street and bought another one at a competitive price.

Yup, I think were talking about the same bike. It is a bit crusty in a few spots, wasn't at the coast but sat in wet enough air for the chrome to pit a bit. Essentially all the chrome is pitted and the engine covers are a bit grungy, not too bad but bad enough to make me wonder whether or not I should just replace all the chrome parts and blast/repaint the covers. The tank is like new inside and he spent the money to rebuild and dial in the carbs so other than a sticky brake caliper its ready to ride.

I suppose I will fix the brake and ride it and decide whether or not to do a restoration later, it wouldn't be too extensive just fix the stuff that needs to be addressed and leave it as original as possible. I'd hate to mess with a original bike but I do like shiny things!
