Float needle part numbers needed (CB750)
« on: November 15, 2022, 12:57:39 PM »
I have a 76 CB750 with the externally activated carbs. I want to replace the float needles but have heard that aftermarket ones were of poor quality. Winners Circle supplies Kiehin parts but I need a part number. Can anyone help?

Tried to check on bikebandit but their site is down. Partsfish only goes back to 77 and shows the internally operated carbs.

Thanks.

External have the rubber boots on top, internal the mechanism is encapsulated.

If by internal you mean the pd type fitted to the F2 and 550k3  hondas they are mostly hated and parts are difficult, you can not change the float needle seat only the needle itself. The type with rubber boots are far more common, easier to work on and get bits for

You say you WANT to change the float needles.  Are you sure you NEED to change them?  I've done a bunch of keihin carbs, and if the float valves are working, don't mess with them.  The only replacements that are sure to work are oem honda or oem keihin.  I have had to replace new aftermarket float valves and seats because they wont seal!  Use the clear-tube method to prove you do or don't need them.

p.s.  I like Pd carbs, I find them easy to work on and synchronize.

Those are the stock bowls, with a fitting to attach the clear tube to the drain outlet.  Some folks just heat the plastic tube and jam it into the drain screw threads.  With care it will hold enough to do the test.  Other folks get a plastic air fitting from the fish aquarium store.  I made these fittings from aluminum because I can.  They seal with an oring like the drain screw..
