Broke down my 750F3 parts bike yesterday
« on: February 19, 2019, 10:58:13 AM »
I picked up a '78 750F a couple month back to get the forks and from brakes to install them on my F1. It was a roller with a stuck engine and carbs. Separately I picked up a set of 3ohm Accel coils and an old RC Engineering exhaust.

I took advantage of the President's Day holiday (it is good to be a banker sometimes) to roll it into my sister's garage to break it down. As I did I ran into a few surprises.

First, when I pulled the alternator cover I discovered: no field coil and masking tape wrapped around the stator. I removed the chrome filter housing and (naturally) no oil filter inside. The engine is dry as a bone.

I cleaned up the engine number pad and took a picture and discovered that the engine number corresponds to an F0: 2500794. The case and head are black and it has a 630 chain and F2/3 carbs, so I didn't have any reason to think it wasn't the engine the original engine for the bike, but apparently someone swapped it out at some point.

Someone mentioned that the RCE exhaust I have fits an Amen frame. I wonder if the prior owner pulled the engine from a chopper? the remaining outer covers, rocker cover, and oil filter housing are all chromed, which isn't stock on an F3.

Danny,
Nice find....I don't like that style of rear shocks......😎
Does it still have 630 chain..?  530..?  How is alignment with F0 shaft...?
Looks cold outside up there...
