Tips for making frame ground on fresh powdercoat?
« on: February 20, 2019, 02:14:00 PM »
Hey guys,

As the title states - I've had my CB550 frame powder coated (attached picture). I was wondering if there are any good tricks/proven methods you've used for cleaning the powder off of the inside of the top hanger bolt to create a good ground (where the ground goes between the engine spacer and frame) that avoids taking off more material than anticipated?

Thanks in advance!

Paul

A brown ScotchBrite disc on an angle grinder, a razor blade (cut the area carefully) and scrape it with some chemical stripper carefully, a flap disc carefully on an angle grinder...

Dremel.  Make sure all contact surfaces are bright metal then coat egerything in silicone vacuum grease and clamp it tight.  The grease will keep the water (and corrosion/rust out)

I use the Scotchbrite pad on an an angle grinder and it works well.
