1973 Honda CB500 Speedometer/Tachometer Bracket
« on: February 21, 2019, 08:24:42 PM »
I recently purchased a speedometer and tachometer that came off a 1976 Honda CB550, to install on my 1973 CB500, however the mounting bracket is not compatible. I’m finding a few used brackets online that look as though the mounting holes will line up that are listed as part #M2. Can anyone confirm if this part number will fit the 1973 CB500?

No such part number as that on Hondas

Regardless of part number, will a 1975 CB500 bracket mounting holes match up to a 1973 CB500?

Thanks for the info, the bracket that I purchased from the CB 550 almost worked but I need a bracket where the mounting holes are spaced further apart. It looks like the second picture I posted should work.

The top tree on a 76 550 is the same part as a 500 so if the bracket dont fit it can only be:-
One of the top trees is wrong
The bracket is bent
The parts have been sold wrongly

Looks as though the issue is the top tree. Any suggestions on what speedometer bracket I need?  The distance between the mounting holes on the top tree is about 5 3/4 inches.

God knows what that tree is off, would be easier to change the top tree, any 500 or 550 from 71 to 76 will do

The bracket you have (grey one) looks exactly like the one on my 1975 400F.

The guy I purchased the speedometer, tachometer and bracket said it came off a 1976 CB 550.

Could have been a 550 super sport. The super sport has a free floating frame that holds the blinkers and headlight (no fork ears). This thing plugs into that part. Prts #472 and #246 below

That parts diagram looks like 400 not 550 to me.
