Braided brake lines
« on: February 25, 2019, 08:59:52 AM »
Last time I needed these I ordered from Slingshot Cycles, who was a member here, but I guess they're not around anymore. Where do you guys get braided lines these days?
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

Goodridge lines from several sources, Apex, Z-1, etc... you have to order the lines and fittings separately but are comparable in cost to the Slingshot offerings. I like the Goodridge lines since they are more adaptable. If you put on taller bars you can just order longer hose since you already have the fittings, and vise-versa if you put on lower bars you can just order a shorter hose. Also, if you don't like the angle of a banjo fitting you can order a banjo fitting with a different angle without replacing the entire hose assembly. The fitting from Goodridge hose to the steel pipe at the caliper caused the most head scratching for me.  8)

I used Apex for mine. Same price as Slingshot used to charge and doing a custom length order was pretty painless.

I got a custom (shorty) line from Spiegler that was perfect and shipped in 1 day. The banjo fittings can be rotated to avoid any twist in the line.

Good to know, have not heard of them.

I used Spiegler lines on my Concours and they work great. They had a dual line kit for the front eliminating the junction block in my choice of hose and fitting color.
