Topic: CL450K5 carburetors - Which ones are the right ones?

Howdy Gang,

The carburetors on my CL450 twin have different numbers stamped on them. They appear, outwardly, to be identical. Did honda use a different part number on each side, for some reason?

Does anyone know what the correct carburetors should be for a K5?

The reason I ask is that one of the carbs on this bike is missing the float bowl. I need to find a new float bowl, and if the carbs don't match, as the very different parts numbers suggest, I may decide to buy a whole new carb instead of wasting time looking for a new float bowl.

The carbs may match after all. There is an ebay seller offering carbs from a cb450, and I emailed to ask him for the part numbers. His are very similar to mine, and right and left are very different-looking numbers.

His:     Right:  A LL# 723B        Left  HL 14H


Mine:    Right KA  723A            Left    JI  14H

I would think that the only difference in the bowls would be the drain screw location and how it needs to face outward on each side. As far as the bodies they should be the same except for the choke linkage mounts.

The book didn't specify which carb model per year, but it did list 14H as one of many carb models for the 450. It looks like they made slight changes every year or so. Idle adjustment is 3/4 turn open on the 14H. Sorry it took so long.
